| Section A: Series 2000 General |
| |
| 1) Are the 2200 and 2400 option boards
compatible? |
| No, the 2200 boards are physically different than 2400
boards. |
| 2) Can the series 2000 fixed relays be
configured as a heat or cool output? |
- On the 2216, 2208, and 2204 the fitted relay can be configured as a heat or
cool output.
- On the 2408 and 2404 the fitted relay can only be configured as an alarm or
event.
|
| 3) What hardware comes with the series
2000? |
| The models 2132, 2116, and 2108i have a fixed hardware
build. The 2116/32 has one relay output and one logic output per instrument.
The 2108i has two fixed relays. The models 2216, 2208, and 2204 have two plug
in slots for modular hardware. The model 2216 has one fitted relay that can be
enabled at the factory or with a configuration adaptor/hardlock. The models
2208 and 2204 have two fitted relays that can be enabled at the factory or with
a configuration adaptor/hardlock. The models 2416, 2408, and 2404 have three
plug in slots for modular hardware. The 2408 and 2404 have one fitted alarm
relay that can be enabled at the factory or with a configuration
adaptor/hardlock. The 2416's have no fitted alarm relays. |
| 4) Which series 2000 instruments can be
order as a special, with a BC protocol? |
| 2400. Special S254. |
| 5) What series 2000 instruments have digital
communications? |
- The models 2216, 2208, 2204 can have EIA-232, EIA-422, and EIA-485 (2-wire)
communications. There are three protocols available for the 2200 series.
Modbus, EI Bisynch, and DeviceNet, which can all be fitted in the field.
- The models 2416, 2408, 2404,2408i can have EIA-232, EIA-422, and EIA-485
(2-wire) communications. There are four protocols available for the 2400
series. Modbus, EI Bisynch, DevicNet and Profibus. These are modules, which can
be fitted in the field.
- Note: The Profibus is only available on the 2408, 2408i, 2404 which must be
specified when ordering (2408f, 2408I/AP, 2404f).
|
| 6) How many digital inputs are available on
the series 2000? |
| 2132 and 2116=Logic output can be used as an alarm
acknowledge. 2108i=One digital input for alarm acknowledge. 2216, 2208,
2204=Two digital inputs standard on 2208 and 2208. Slot 2A can be used as a
digital input when fitted with a logic output board. 2416, 2408, 2404=Two
digital inputs standard on 2408 and 2404. The 2416's have no digital inputs.
|
| 7) Which series 2000 instruments have a
remote DC input option? |
| 2408,2408i, and 2404 instruments only. The dc input can be
used as a remote setpoint, Feedforward, derived function, second PV (same
specifications as main PV input), or transition control (switches from main
input to second input). The second input could also be used as a monitor, which
can trigger either a full-scale high or full-scale low alarm. |
| 8) What does FOP mean on the series
2000? |
| FOP stands for Forced Output Power, which allows the
instrument to go to a user set output level when switching from automatic to
manual mode. |
| 9) Is it possible to modify the 'home
display' on a series 2000 instrument? |
| Yes. The 2200e and 2400 series instrument's have an option
to customize the lower display only in the home page. The upper display in the
home page always shows the process variable and cannot be customized. Example:
The lower display on the home page can show output power, Amps, program state,
valve position, PV 2, blank etc. 2100's have a single display which can be
modified to show: Setpoint, Output Power, Process Variable, Alarm Setpoint,
Process Variable with Alarm 2, or no display. |
| 10) I have configured my 2000 as a motorized
valve controller with a 4-20 mA output for control. The unit is not controlling
the process, what's up. |
| If the valve were controlled using an analog signal such as
a 4-20ma signal, the control would be set to PID and would not control using
the motorized valve algorithm, which uses up/down (two output) control. |
| 11) I have configured my series 2000
instrument for a heat/cool application and can only get the heating to come on,
what's the problem? |
| When doing a heat/cool application with a series 2000
instrument the output list parameters must be scaled as such: Op.Lo=-100.
OP.Hi=100. |
| 12) When I try to change my setpoint, the
lower display shows four dashes, what am I doing wrong? |
| Verify that the display setting is set to standard. This
will be in the info list in 2400's and the home list for 2100's and 2200's. If
you are using a 2400, and are running a program, you cannot change the setpoint
until the program is reset (run or hold light off). Also, 2400's have the
ability to set the setpoint display to read only. To access the setpoint, go to
the Full list or set the setpoint to alter in the Edit list. |
| 13) I cannot set my setpoint above or below
a particular value, what's the problem? |
| All series 2000 controllers have setpoint limits. The
setpoint low and setpoint high define the setpoint limits, which can be found
in the setpoint list. The 2200e's and 2400's also have a range low and range
high parameter, which defines the absolute limits of the controller (sensor
inputs are limited by range of input). Rang low and high can be found in the
Input Configuration list on 2200's, and PV Configuration list in 2400's. |
| 14) I have made several mistakes configuring
my series 2000 instrument. Is it possible to set the instrument back to factory
default values? |
- It is not possible to set the instrument back to default values by simply
selecting an option in the controller.
- The two options you have are to check and enter each value manually from
the installation/operation handbook (have a sit when doing this) or to download
a default clone file from iTools by using a digital communication board (not
2100) or the configuration adaptor, your choice.

| Section D: 2400 Series |
| |
| 1) Can all the 2400's use the isolated DC
output (D4) card? |
| No, the D4 board is a four-pin card (uses the 4 screw
terminals locations); therefore it will only work in a 2408 or 2404. |
| 2) Can the 2416 be configured for analog
retransmission? |
| Yes, the D2 board can be configured for analog
retransmission. |
| 3) Can the 2416 have an analog remote
setpoint? |
| No, the D5 board is a four-pin card; therefore it will only
work in a 2408, 2408i, or 2404. |
| 4) How many programs can be stored in the
2400's |
CP=One Program (Sixteen segments per program)
P4=Four Programs (Sixteen segments per program)
CM=Twenty programs (Sixteen segments per program)
Note: The standard 2400's have a single eight segment program at no charge,
which will not do event outputs or program synchronization. The 2416's can have
the CP or P4 option only. The CP and P4 options are software upgradeable. The
CM option requires a hardware upgrade (Not available with 2416). |
| 5) What is the maximum number of event
outputs on the 2400? |
| The 2400's can be configured for up to eight event outputs
(CP, P4, or CM option only). Example: To supply eight event outputs in a 2408
the unit you would have to use the Triple logic output board in all three
slots, which would give you nine logic outputs (eight for events, one for
control). |
| 6) How is a program reset on the
2400's? |
| There are two ways to reset a program on the 2400's. The
first way is by holding in on the Run/Hold button for two seconds. The second
way can only be done by using a 2408 or 2404. Configure one of the two digital
inputs for RESET. |
| 7) How can the output be inverted on 2400's?
|
| Set VAL.L to 100 and set VAL.H to 0 |
| 8) On the 2400, what is the difference
between the R4 board and the R2 board? |
| An R4 board is a form C relay (also know as a changeover
relay). The R4 board has a N/O and a N/C contact. This board is only available
on the 2408 and 2404 (R4 board is to large to fit in a 2416). An R2 board is a
form a relay, which has a N/O contact. This board is available on the 2416,
2408 and 2404. |
