Total Machine Control Systems from EurothermDDE Compatible, Wonderware InTouch Compatible Multiloop System
Eurotherm Controls announces its new and improved ECMDDE Server for the EM-2 Control System. This new DDE Server offers a more robust communication link while significantly increasing communication speed. The ECMDDE Server has also been expanded, recognizing a larger set of the EM-2 and EM-200 family of process control modules. DDE (Dynamic Data Exchange) is a method of communication which allows concurrently running programs to exchange data with each other. DDE implements a client-server relationship between the programs. A server program accepts requests for data from any client program interested in receiving or sending data. EM-2 and EM-200 modules communicate to the user interface program through the ECMDDE Server program. The ECMDDE Server program translates the EM-2 and EM-200 data format to DDE format. An ECMDDE solution begins with Eurotherm Controls application oriented modules. A high-throughput communications module provides a "bridge" between the module's communication network and the ECMDDE application running in the PC. Once the ECMDDE Server acquires the data, it can be made available to any number of Windows based application capable of functioning as a DDE client (MMIs, SCADAs, spreadsheets, databases, etc.). Network extensions are available which allow DDE links between programs running on different computers which are connected via networks or modems. Windows is a trademark of Microsoft Corporation. |
