The T755X series of standard enclosures has been designed to accommodate up to two T940 Process Supervisors*, one T303 Unit Supervisor and eight 16 way 2500 Process Interface units. The pre-configured design keeps build time and implementation costs to a minimum and all active components are easily removable to facilitate maintenance.

Careful attention has been given to power distribution with a range of redundancy and backup options to provide a high degree of fault tolerance. Enclosures may accommodate a T800 Visual Supervisor on the front door as a local operator interface and up to six T630 Process Controllers.

Enclosures may be interconnected to form a suite with peer-to-peer network connection as well as a communication link to the control room.

I/O Terminations
Integral Terminal Units provide the connection between the plant wiring and the 2500 Process Interface I/O modules. Isolator links or fuses are available as options for certain modules, eliminating the need for terminal blocks. As there is no direct wiring to the plug-in I/O modules, they can be replaced under power without any disturbance to field wiring.

 

 

High Integrity Power Supply System
All control units are powered by 24V dc for simplicity and safety. With an ac mains primary supply, the 24V dc is provided by several PSUs with an “N+1” redundancy option; if any power supply fails, the load is then provided by the remainder. An auxiliary mains supply can be used for the internal fan and light.

Control unit memory is optionally protected against loss of power by a RAM backup battery option and charger.

Network Connections
Internal communications between the various Supervisors is via ALIN connected in a bussed configuration. This is also used for direct external communication for up to a 100m total length. Optional fibre-optic compact hubs can be fitted to extend the ALIN communications network to 6.7km, with each electrical port capable of supporting up to 8 nodes.

Internal communications between the Supervisors (T940, T800), the Process Controllers (T630) and the Process Interface units (2500) is via Profibus® DPV1. The maximum number of nodes per segment without a repeater is 18.

Optional external Modbus® communications are available.

System Availability
High availability of the system is assured by the fundamental reliability of the control units and redundant CPU options, plus the following features built into the enclosure design:

  • Optional redundant power supplies
  • Live replacement of all active components
  • Extensive health monitoring and diagnostics with indicator LEDs/watchdog relays

Components
Power supply and auxiliary components are either bulkhead or DIN rail mounting and may be supplied without the enclosure to system integrators and customers with specific installation requirements.

 

Documentation
The enclosures are supplied with standard drawings available on paper or disk in AutoCAD format.

Customized Enclosures
Enclosures may be customized to accommodate additional equipment or variants in wiring standards but this will require a specific quotation and incur an engineering charge.
