Product Key Information

It is possible to upgrade the set of available features by purchasing a new Product Key from Eurotherm.

During iTools installation you will be asked for a Product Key. The key is a 20-character value in the format 01234-56789-ABCDE-F0123. You will find this number on the back of the CD case. The Product Key determines which iTools features are enabled. iTools 5 and greater is also compatible with the 10-digit Product Keys supplied with earlier versions of iTools. Contact Sales or Tech Support for more information on ordering a Product Key.

If you enter no Product Key, or an incorrect Product Key, iTools will install with Configuration Software available, as well as other features in Demo mode. Certain features will operate for 30 minutes.

A new Product Key may be entered after installation, by selecting 'Registration Information...' from the Help menu in iTools.

Having completed the installation, please refer to the help file for Release Notes, and some guidance on running the Tools. The Release Notes provide detailed information on changes introduced with each iTools release.

As well as the main iTools application, this release includes the OPC Scope program which can be used to browse any OPC server, and a Programmer Editor for 2400 and 26/2700 controllers. It also includes ActiveX Controls which encapsulate iTools functionality, and which may be used with many other applications.

In deciding whether to download the current release of Instrument Tools, you may wish to look at the Release Notes which form part of the Help.

iTools V7 is now available with different features enabled according to the level of functionality required.

The following features may be specified, in any combination, when obtaining iTools:
  • Configuration Software
  • Open OPC Server - allows 3rd-party client access to the OPC server
  • OPC Scope trending and logging
  • Standalone Programmer Editor
  • View Builder

Notes:

  • The Configuration Software option is not charged for. However, it may be disabled by Product Key where it is specifically not required.
  • Whenever the Configuration Software option is specified, all other options (where not ordered) will operate in a demo mode as appropriate.
  • If OPC Scope trending and logging has not been specified, the OPC Scope program will still be available as a simple OPC client offering live textual displays.

A collection of files designed to automatically be copied to a CD is available for download as an ISO file type. If you have a  CD burner and software on your PC, opening the ISO file will automatically start the CD burning program.

You cannot use the ISO file to install iTools until it has been copied and burned onto a CD. An image of the CD directory after burning is shown below. As can be seen, there is much more than just iTools, hence the size of the ISO file. A CD burned from the ISO file contains:

  • Clone files
  • Acrobat Reader V7 and V6
  • Datasheets for the Mini8
  • DeviceNet EDS file for Series 2000, 3000 and Mini8
  • Profibus GSD File Editor
  • iTools V6
  • PDF Manuals for Series 2000, 3000 and Mini8
  • Technical sheets on using iTools and iTools OPC Server

To download the iTools V7.00 CD image file (ISO), download this program (189,210KB) to a temporary directory, and then run it to burn the files onto a CD as shown above . You will need a CD-RW drive with a blank CD.

Setpoint Program Editor

This editor is packaged separately from iTools and is intended to be used with the T2900/T800 Visual Supervisor. For 2400 and 2604/2704, use the new Setpoint Program Editor in iTools V4.0.

To install the Setpoint Program Editor, download this setup program (2,302KB) to a temporary directory, and then run it. You are recommended to close all other applications before running this setup program.
